The 2011 Hugo Award winners were announced on Saturday evening, August 20, at the Peppermill Hotel and Casino in Reno, Nevada. Jay Lake and Ken Scholes presided as masters of ceremony, with additional presenters including Renovation Guests of Honor Tim Powers, Boris Vallejo, and Ellen Asher, along with leading genre writers George R.R. Martin and Robert Silverberg.
The unique 2011 Hugo trophy base design was revealed at the ceremony by designer and Hugo base design contest winner Marina Gelineau.

Hugo Awards Ceremony Tonight
The 2011 Hugo Awards will be announced tonight, August 20, at a ceremony at the Peppermill Hotel in Reno, Nevada during Renovation, the 2011 World Science Fiction Convention. The ceremony is scheduled to start at 8 PM Pacific Daylight Time tonight.
Live video streaming of the event is scheduled to be available on the UStream Worldcon Events channel, courtesy of Renovation’s Events Team.

Hugo Awards Ceremony to be Streamed Live
Renovation, the 2011 Worldcon, has announced on their Hugo Ceremonies page that they plan to provide live streaming-video coverage of the 2011 Hugo Awards ceremony. This is in addition to the live text-based coverage that we’ll be providing through CoverItLive and announcements on Twitter.
The Hugo Awards Ceremony is scheduled for 8 PM Pacific Daylight Time on Saturday, August 20.
Renovation Announces Record Hugo Awards Voter Turnout
Renovation, the 2011 World Science Fiction Convention, has announced a record Hugo Awards voter turnout.
A record total of 2100 valid final ballots were cast, a 46.1% turnout, from voters in 33 countries. (The previous record set in 1980 was 1788 ballots cast.) Renovation also broke a record earlier this year when it received 1006 valid nominating ballots.

Can’t attend this year’s Worldcon? You can virtually attend the ceremony by following our online coverage. As we did last year, TheHugoAwards.org will provide live text-based coverage of the Hugo Awards ceremony from Renovation, the 69th World Science Fiction Convention, in Reno, Nevada on Saturday, August 20, 2011 at 8 PM Pacific Daylight Time.

This is a reminder there is one month left to vote in the 2011 Hugo Awards. Attending, Supporting, and Young Adult members of Renovation, the 69th World Science Fiction Convention, are eligible to vote until the deadline on Sunday, July 31, 2011, 23:59 PDT.
To help you make an informed vote, the 2011 Hugo Voter Packet, an electronic package of nominated works and samples graciously made available to voters by nominees and their publishers, has also recently been expanded.
